Potassium propanoate or potassium propionate is the potassium salt of propanoic acid. It is used as a food preservative and is represented by the food labeling E number E283 in Europe. The typical products are flour products, where it is used as a mold inhibitor, and a means of reducing the yeast content of bread. [1]
In EU, it is approved to use as food additive.
