About:

Functions:
1. Emulsifier - Allows water and oils to remain mixed together to form an emulsion.
2. Gelling Agent / Thickener - Increases the viscosity by thickening the liquid to give it more texture
2-Hydroxypropyl starch is prepared by treating starch with propyleneoxide. The resulting starch is more stable against acid, alkaline and starch degrading enzymes. It also provides better color and shine to products. It is gluten free and can be used as a stabilizer, thickener, binder, emulsifier during food, cosmetic and oilfield drilling processing. It has E number E1440. [1]
It is approved to use as food additive in EU and generally recognized as safe food substance in US.
