Ponceau 4R (E124) is a synthetic strawberry red azo dye that may be used as a food colouring found in dessert toppings, jelly, salami, seafood dressings, tinned strawberries and fruit pie fillings and packeted cake mixes, cheesecakes, soups and trifles. [1]
It is approved for use as food coloring in EU but not permitted as food additive in any food in US.
