Coffee is a beverage produced from ground and roasted coffee beans are ground and then brewed with near-boiling water. It is darkly colored with a bitter taste, slightly acidic, and has a stimulating effect in humans, primarily due to its caffeine content. The two most commonly grown coffee bean species are C. arabica and C. robusta, which can produce the best quality coffee.
Coffee can be served in various forms, such as espresso, caffè Americano, cappuccino, caffè macchiato, and caffè latte. It can also be incorporated with alcohol to produce a variety of beverages. In personal care products, coffee is used in the formulation of bath and shower products due to its strong aroma.
Coffee beans contain an active ingredient, quinines, which is a disease-ravaging antioxidant. Another active ingredient, caffeine, can stimulate the brain and nervous system, and thus help fight fatigue and boost athletic performance. It is believed that two cups of coffee can usually give you an athletic boost. [1] According to the studies at the U.S Food & Drug Administration (FDA), caffeine can be part of a healthy diet for most people, but too much caffeine may pose dangerous effects to our health. The FDA recommends a maximum intake of 400 milligrams a day (that's about four or five cups of coffee) for a healthy adult which does not result in any dangerous and negative health effects. [2]
