Chromium(III) oxide (or chromia) is one of the principal oxides of chromium and is used as a pigment. In nature, it occurs as the rare mineral eskolaite.
Chromium(III) oxide is used in paints, inks, and glasses. It is the colourant in "chrome green" and "institutional green." It is a precursor to the magnetic pigment chromium dioxide. In cosmetics and personal care products, Chromium(III) oxide is used in the formulation of makeup, hair coloring products, cleansing products, bath products, nail polish and skin care products.
