About:

Functions:
1. Emulsifier - Allows water and oils to remain mixed together to form an emulsion.
2. Surfactant - Reduces the surface tension to allow mixtures to be formed evenly. Emulsifier is a specific type of surfactant which allows two liquids to mix together evenly
Cetearyl Olivate is the ester of cetearyl alcohol and the fatty acids derived from olive oil. It comes in the form of an oily wax. It is a nonionic emulsifier that helps blend ingredients together in cosmetic solutions, usually ones with moisturizing properties. It helps soften the skin & hair, and gives products a smooth and luxurious feel. It's most often used in conjunction with sorbitan olivate in several personal care products such as facial moisturizer, conditioner, anti-aging treatment, sunscreen, shaving cream, eye cream, lip gloss, cleanser, skin fader, scar treatment and body firming lotion.
Fun Fact:
Cetearyl Olivate comes to the formula coupled with Sorbitan Olivate as the two together form the well-known, natural emulsifier trade named Olivem 1000, which has moisturizing, barrier-repairing and soothing properties.
