About:

Functions:
1. Absorbent - Absorbs and soaks up liquids
2. Anti-caking Agent - Prevents lumps from forming in food due to excess water. They usually function as a water repellent or by absorbing excess moisture.
Calcium silicate is a white free-flowing powder. It can be derived from naturally occurring limestone and diatomaceous earth, a siliceous sedimentary rock.
Calcium silicate is used as an anticaking agent in food preparation (E number 552), including table salt and as an antacid. It is approved to use as food additive in EU and generally recognized as safe food substance in US.
Calcium silicate is commonly used as a safe alternative to asbestos for high-temperature insulation materials. Industrial-grade piping and equipment insulation is often fabricated from calcium silicate. It is also used in passive fire protection and fireproofing as calcium silicate brick or in roof tiles.
