Functions:
1. Antiseptic / Disinfectant - Prevents growth of unwanted microorganisms.

Isopropanol is also known as Isopropyl alcohol. It is the simplest example of a secondary alcohol and is often used as a common ingredient in chemicals such as antiseptics, disinfectants, and detergents. [1]
Recent Findings:
This ingredient has been designated by the Singaporean Government to be effective against coronaviruses. "As the COVID-19 virus is new, no study has been published on the virus. This assessment is thus based on published scientific studies on coronaviruses, a group to which the COVID-19 virus would belong."
A minimum concentration of 50% is sufficient to be effective against coronaviruses.
